JOE WHELAN

Born and raised right here in Nashville Tennessee, Joe's path to becoming a songwriter was not as straightforward as you might think. In fact, he grew up with a love of sports, not really seeing songwriting as an option. It wasn’t until he was at Middle Tennessee State University, working on a construction degree, that he found his passion for songwriting. Joe began teaching himself guitar while he was in school, and before too long he decided to move back home and start connecting with songwriters in Nashville. He quickly garnered the respect of his songwriting peers and wrote the songs that would lead to him inking his first publishing deal with MV2 Entertainment.

Since then, Joe has collaborated with many established writers including Casey Beathard, Tony Lane, Chris DuBois and Luke Dick and has found success with releases including Tucker Beathard’s “Can’t Stay Here,” “Too Drunk” and “How Gone Will I Go” as well as Vincent Mason’s “Livin’ Proof” and Grant Gilbert’s “Drunk Since Dallas.”

During all of this growth, Joe joined forces with Andrew Stone to form Whelan Stone. The Duo has been releasing music and sharing the stage with major acts including Jelly Roll, Jon Pardi, Nate Smith and others. While Joe is dedicated to his artistry, he is also passionate about writing for outside projects as well as his own. In 2024, he inked a new writing deal with Porchlight Music.
